We can know people of Kirata are the first one that were settled in Nepal from local resources. They ruled Nepal for more than twenty five hundred years . Nepal is known to be mentioned as bordered country in Samudragupta’s allahabad inscription, whereas in atharvaveda parisista in late vedic text referred Nepal as a place where blankets were exported. Even “Skanda Purana” explains Nepal with a part chapter called “Nepal Mahatmya” that explain about the beauty and power of Nepal. Hindu texts has declared Nepal as the narayana puja etc.
Still the reknowned Chinese Buddhist pilgrim monk Xuanzang has illustrated the kingdom of Nepal with a better and thorough description. As Nepal was divided into many smaller pieces that were later ruled by many inhabitants , which was later on was combined to one single piece by Prithvi narayan Shah, king of Shah dynasty and the country was named as Nepal.
